The Satanic Path was approached in a similar way to Who's Out There with a narrative that takes place within The Parallel Realm. This is still the path the narrative follows, although it was not used in the final record.

The Satanic Path (1989)

The Satanic Path contains music commissioned but never used for a television programme about youth dance music culture in 1989. The story behind the origin of the recording sessions is an often told industry legend and goes some way to explain the mysterious and inexplicably dark tone of the songs. In order to experience and recreate the sound of this emerging culture it was decided that it needed to be experienced first-hand and in its natural environment. So a variety of controlled substances were sought out and an address was obtained for an event, known as a ‘rave’, in the countryside. It’s not known at what point in the journey the mistake was made; but rather than arriving at an underground youth culture event, the entire staff poured out of their car (coming up on a variety of pills and hallucinogens) into the middle of a Black Mass on the night of a great celestial event.

The following tracks are edits of tracks from the work-print of The Satanic Path. The first, Electronic Voice Phenomenon was originally to open the album.
